can you take opiates with subutex

My Dad has been on subutex to manage a previous problem that he had with heroin. He's been clean years. Thing is, he's just had an accident at work and he didn't tell the doctor that he's been taking subutex and the doctor has prescribed pain medication. I'm pretty sure there are opiates in it. Will they be ok to take with the subutex?
