can my psychiatrist prescribe suboxone

I see a psychiatrist monthly for my bipolar disorder. He is aware that I take opiates but isnt aware that its become a problem. Id really rather be honest with him and tell him whats going on. Im just afraid he wont prescribe me suboxone so I can get my life back. do psychiatrists typically prescribe this?

your psychiatrist can prescribe suboxone if they have the license from the DEA and do not already have too many patients on the medication. If they can't prescribe it for one reason or another, ask for a recommendation

if they can't, they will probably tell you where to go to get treatment but they may not prescribe opiates or other narcotics in the future
