My son got caught with Buprenorphine without a prescription. He was trying to get clean, but didn’t want to have to go through a treatment program to do it. What class of drug is Buprenorphine? I'm wondering how serious his charges are going to be.

It depends on how much of a jerk the judge is as to how much time your kid will get. Buprenorphine is a Class V drug which means he'll probably get charged with a felony.

Buprenorphine is considered a controlled substance. It is a Class V drug and your son could be going to jail for quite a long time, depending on how much he had on him.

It's not a big deal to get caught with Buprenorphine. If he explains things to the judge, they will probably put him in a treatment program and drop the charges against.

It depends on his track record. Has he gotten caught with other drugs before? If so, he's probably looking at jail time for being busted with a Class V drug.
