I'm devastated that my husband of 20 years seems to be losing his battle with drug addiction. I feel like our last hope is suboxone treatment, but how long does it take for that to start working?

I'm so sorry to hear about your husband. I lost my partner to drug addiction and I hate to think of this happening to anyone else. Suboxone treatment has helped many other people and it's a definite possibility that it could help your husband. Patients often start feeling less pain and discomfort within 20-30 minutes of taking suboxone, which can go a long way in helping with those withdrawal symptoms.

I hope your husband can give suboxone treatment a real shot, beause I've seen it work in a number of cases. Suboxone blocks the effects of opiates, so as your husband is withdrawing from the drugs his pain and discomfort will be more manageable. It could be as quick as 15 or 20 minutes for the pain relieving power of suboxone to kick in.

It's a lost cause - once a drug addict always a drug addict.

As an addiction recovery specialist with more than 20 years experience, I have worked with a number of patients who benefitted from suboxone treatment. As long as this medication is administered appropriately, then suboxone may start working within the first 30 minutes of intake. Suboxone use must be monitored by medical professionals who have the patient's best interests at heart.
