My daughter has been taking suboxone for a while. She seems to be doing well. My biggest concern in her recovery is that she is experiencing psychosis. I am not sure where this is coming from. Can the suboxone cause psychosis in my daughter?

According to medical experts in the field of addiction treatment, suboxone is used to treat withdrawal symptons. It is not a drug that should be prescribed for long term use. If abused, a person can become addicted to it and develop a form of psychosis.

Every drug has side effects. Psychosis may be one.

Usually you don’t see psychosis in people taking suboxone for opiate addictions. This is because it is not meant to be a long term solution. It is only meant to be an aid in the detox process.

Psychosis is a dangerous side effect. It is hard to know if it is a sympton of the suboxone without knowing how long she has been taking it. It is probably a sympton if there has been long term use.
